Tree of Magic

So far, the past thirteen years of Nicholas Nhyme's life have been rather peachy; doting parents, supportive siblings, living in the heart of the city. Besides being small for his age, everything has been relatively carefree. But everything changes after the mysterious death of his beloved grandfather, and he and his family abruptly move to the ancestral Victorian home in rural upstate New York.

There, he discovers the truth behind his grandfather's past by unlocking a magical attic in the guest room closet. Gifted with a magic lantern that opens emerald portals into hidden realms, he and his best friend Gigi Radhu, along with an army of shadow creatures and a treasure trove of magical items, go on hot pursuit of a former ally who is hell-bent on erasing his entire family.
